| Soloists
Soloists will receive three songs for the competition that will be decided by and distributed solely by the organiser. If she qualifies for the FINAL ROUND, she will be expected to present her own choreography to a song of her OWN CHOICE NOT EXCEEDING three and a half minutes. Any longer will result in the fading out of the music.
Groups
Groups will be categorized as either Duets or Troupes. There will only be Beginner, Intermediate, or Troupe; no Professional level. A duet comprises two dancers, while a Troupe is three to six, no more, no less. All group presentations must adhere to the guidelines of their level. Groups who utilize movements above the level at which they are competing will be disqualified. Each level will be given a song to prepare for. The same piece of music will continue till the end.
All group presentations should demonstrate:
- Synchronicity
- Connectedness
- Shapes
- Floor Plan/Geometry
- Appropriate Style
The following descriptors prescribe movements for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Level Soloists and Troupes. For each level, a mastery of the movements listed will be judged. If a competitor uses movements from a level higher than that in which she is competing, she will be disqualified.
All candidates should demonstrate proper musicality and the ability to utilize steps appropriate to the music.

Beginners
Beginners are those who have been dancing six months to a year, must be amateur.
- Basic Egyptians, or hip lifts
- Hip Drops
- Hip thrusts, side to side
- Proper arm posing, snake arms
- Turns, 3-point
- Horizontal figure 8’s, both front and back
- Shoulder Shimmies
- Hip Circles – one hip circles
- Pelvic Circles (African)
- Big Circle
Intermediate
Intermediates have been dancing between one and two years, must be amateur.
- All of the above, plus
- Shimmies in place
- Twists
- Chest Circles
- Undulations
- Camels
- Vertical figure 8’s, both up and down
Advanced
Advanced competitors have been dancing between two and three years.
- All of the above, plus
- Chonks (or piston-hips)
- Transfers/Pops
- Omis
- Shimmy Walks
- Shimmies layered onto circles, hip-overs or front and back Ghawazee step
- Props, only if candidate places
- Timing and mood

All competitors must attend rehearsals as requested by the Championship Organiser.
All competitors must be present for their events on time. Late-comers will be disqualified.
The Championship Organiser reserves the right to change the programme of events without prior notice.
The Championship Organiser will not accept any liability, claims for injuries, damage or loss suffered by the competitors.
The judges’ decision shall be final.
In the event of any question or matter arising out of any point which is not expressively provided for in the rules, the Championship Organiser shall have the power to use its own discretion. |
